What Is the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?
The Canadian Dental Care Plan, or CDCP, makes dental care more accessible for all Canadians by subsidizing the costs of common dental treatments and procedures. While the CDCP will eventually be open for all Canadians to apply, the plan currently accepts applications for children, seniors, and adults with disabilities.
CDCP for Children
A healthy smile starts with building healthy habits as children. The CDCP helps reduce dental costs for children to ensure they have access to professional dental hygiene treatments and restorative treatments and have access to our dentists to monitor the development of their teeth.
CDCP for Seniors 65 and Older
Dental care is important for seniors over the age of 65. Whether you’re maintaining the health of your natural teeth or ready for some restorations, we can work within the coverage of the CDCP to offer you the right level of care for your needs.
CDCP for Adults with Disabilities
Adults with a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate are also eligible for the CDCP, making dental care more accessible and affordable to those in our community who need extra support. Everyone in our community is welcome to our Burnaby dental clinic.
The Benefits of the CDCP
The goal of the CDCP is to Increase the accessibility and affordability of dental care for Canadians who need it most. Having access to professional dental check-ups, oral hygiene appointments, and a range of dental treatments, from cosmetic solutions to restorative treatments, can greatly improve the quality of life at any age. That’s why we’re proud to offer work with the CDCP to provide our Burnaby patients with quality dental care.
Metropolis Dental Group offers CDCP dental services through the Canadian Dental Care Plan.
Who Is Eligible for the CDCP?
The Canadian Dental Care Plan offers dental care access to many individuals, ensuring that many can benefit from this valuable opportunity. Most Canadian residents with a valid health card are eligible, and additional programs are available for children, seniors, and low-income families. Signing up is simple—just provide proof of residency and any other necessary documentation to start enjoying the plan’s benefits.
How to Apply for the Canadian Dental Care Plan
Step One: Application
The first step is to apply for the CDCP, which you can do online or with a form at our Burnaby dental clinic. The patient must fill out this form. Once you’ve completed the form, you can send it in with the required documentation to support your eligibility. Our dental team is here to help if you have any questions or difficulties with your application.
Step Two: Supply Required Documentation
Several documents are required when you submit your application. You will be asked to provide proof of Canadian residence for tax purposes, identity documents, proof of income, and any relevant medical records. Sending in your application form along with the correct documents will prevent unnecessary delays in processing your application.
Step Three: Book an Appointment
Once approved for the CDCP, you’ll receive a welcome package within three months. Once you’ve received your welcome letter, you can make your next appointment at our Burnaby dental clinic. It’s important to wait until you receive your benefit start date before booking an appointment to ensure you have the proper coverage.
What Dental Services Does the CDCP Cover?
The Canadian Dental Care Plan covers a wide range of essential dental services, including cleanings, extractions, fillings, routine check-ups, and some orthodontic procedures. Preventive care is also included, such as sealants and fluoride treatments for children. This comprehensive coverage ensures that your oral health needs are met, promoting better overall health and well-being.
How Much Does the CDCP Cover?
The Canadian Dental Care Plan covers a percentage of dental care costs rather than offering free care. Co-payments may be required, depending on your adjusted family net income. Patients with an income under $70,000 may not need to make a co-payment, while those with an income between $70,000 and $79,999 may be responsible for up to 40% of costs, and those with an income between $80,000 and $89,999 may have a co-payment of up to 60%.
